Timing:

Approximately 30 minutes, with additional 10 minutes to transfer the answers.

There are 40 questions in total.

Test Sections:

There are 4 sections

Section 1 is a conversation between two people set in an everyday social context (e.g. a conversation between a student and a librarian).

Section 2 is a monologue set in an everyday social context (e.g. a talk about arrangements made in a local fair).

Section 3 is a conversation among four or more people set in an educational or training context (e.g. a university tutor and some students discussing an assignment, or a group of students planning).

Section 4 is a monologue on an academic subject (e.g. a lecture by a professor or some other chief guest on a particular topic).

Each section is played only once.

The audio is played which consists of various accents and voices of native as well as non-native speakers.

Skills assessed:

A wide range of listening skills is assessed, including coherence of main ideas and specific information; recognising views, attitudes and objectives of a speaker; and following the development of an argument.

 Marking:

Each correct answer is awarded 1 mark. Scores out of 40 are converted to the IELTS 9-band scale and they are given in whole and half bands.
